For decades, public libraries across the country — and their staff — have operated under a modern understanding of court rulings that say books and other materials cannot be removed simply because government officials do not like the ideas they contain.

NEW YORK (AP) — Donald Trump’s lawyers have asked a federal court to take control of his New York City criminal case. They argued Thursday that the former president could not be tried in the state court where his historic indictment was brought because the alleged conduct occurred while he was in office.

In court papers, Trump’s lawyers said the criminal case “involves important federal questions,” including alleged violations of federal election law. Federal officers, including former presidents, have the right to be tried in federal court for charges arising from “conduct performed while in office,” the lawyers argued.

7 people found dead in Oklahoma while searching for missing teens

Authorities found the bodies of seven people Monday on a rural property in Oklahoma during a search for two missing teens and an adult man, officials said.

The property is just east of Henryetta, roughly 50 miles south of Tulsa, a spokesperson for the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation said.

One of the bodies appeared to be that of Jesse McFadden, 39, Okmulgee County Sheriff Eddy Rice told reporters at the scene.
