Attorneys representing the family of Hae Min Lee, the teen whose 1999 killing was on the “Serial” podcast, asked an appellate court on Thursday to redo a hearing that vacated the murder conviction of Adnan Syed – and to reinstate Syed’s conviction in the meantime .

Syed was accused of killing the teenager and served more than 20 years in prison before a judge vacated his conviction in a September hearing, leading to Syed’s release. Lee’s brother, Young Lee, requested a redo of that hearing, arguing in part that he didn’t have enough notice to attend in person.

The attorney for the University of Idaho stabbing victim Kaylee Goncalves’s family has filed an appeal of a Latah County judge’s gag order regarding the case against her suspected killer, Bryan Kohberger.

The order is “facially overbroad and vague” and unconstitutional, Goncalves family attorney Shanon Gray wrote in an appeal filed Friday.

Judge Megan Marshall issued the initial gag order Jan. 3, shortly after Kohberger’s arrest, restricting comments from prosecutors, the defense, law enforcement and other officials.

On Jan. 18, she expanded the scope of her order, restricting attorneys for the victims and their families from speaking with the media.

100 business organizations submitted a letter today requesting a 60 day extension on the March 20, 2023, comment period deadline on the FTC’s proposed rule banning non-competites with employees and workers. The business organizations include organizations in manufacturing, commerce, retail, insurance, franchise, health care, technology, financial services, construction, and staffing.

In support of their request, the organizations stated the “regulated community should be given sufficient time to assess the potential consequences of the rulemaking and develop insightful comments for the Commission to consider.”
