Lawmakers in Washington state have passed a bill that would prohibit the sale, manufacture and import of assault weapons in the state.

“Both chambers of the Washington State Legislature have now approved a historic ban on the sale of assault weapons in Washington state,” Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson said in a press releases Saturday shortly after Democrats in the state Senate successfully pushed through HB 1240.

New Jersey’s Attorney General’s Office has identified Mitchell Negron Jr. as the man who was shot and killed during an encounter with the Deptford Township police on Friday afternoon.

Negron, 24, was stopped by Officer Robert Shisler on Delsea Drive in Gloucester County shortly before 12:40 pm What followed, according to the AG’s Office, was a foot chase that turned into a struggle, and ended in a residential neighborhood on Doman Avenue , where both Negron and Shisler were shot.
