Jewish groups, allies demand CUNY Law lose funding after student’s ‘vile’ anti-Israel commencement speech

Pro-Israel groups and Jewish allies are calling for the City University of New York’s (CUNY) public law school to lose its funding after a graduate student accused Israel of “indiscriminately raining bullets and bombs” on Palestinians during her commencement speech. She also claimed laws are “white supremacy” and attacked the “fascist” NYPD and US military.

Fatima Mousa Mohammed, who was selected by the 2023 class to speak at the May 12 CUNY Law ceremony, accused Israel of “indiscriminately” murdering Palestinians and encouraging “lynch mobs.” She also celebrated resistance to “Zionism around the world” while lauding the school’s support of the

The race for the Republican presidential nomination, once a two-man battle between former President Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, is getting more crowded.

Mon. Tim Scott of South Carolina, the Senate’s only Black Republican and a favorite of many GOP donors, declared his candidacy last week. A few nights later, DeSantis belatedly made his own candidacy official in a chaotic Twitter event. That brought the number of major candidates to six,

Volusia County beaches are now under Sheriff Mike Chitwood’s control

Law enforcement officers with the Volusia Sheriff's Office stop along the county's coastline. Deputies have begun patrolling the coast in anticipation of a law change that would put beach law enforcement in the hands of the sheriff.

Law enforcement on Volusia County’s beaches is officially in the hands of Sheriff Mike Chitwood.

Gov. Ron DeSantis signed House Bill 1595 on Thursday, which says that only sheriffs have the authority to maintain law enforcement operations in unincorporated areas of a county (such as the beaches).

Major shift in law enforcement

For years Volusia County government’s Beach Safety division officers have provided law enforcement services on Volusia County’s coast, but now their law enforcement capacity has ended.

In a Thursday night Facebook post, the sheriff’s office wrote that deputies and Beach Safety officers have already been working together closely

WARSAW, Poland (AP) — Poland’s ruling party is pushing for the creation of a commission which says it would investigate Russian influence. Critics view it as an attempt to create a powerful and unconstitutional tool that would help the party continue to wield power even if it loses elections this fall.

A vote on the bill could come as early as Wednesday.

Some fear the ruling party could use the planned commission to eliminate opposition leader Donald Tusk from political

Jude Law Made Perfume Smelling Like ‘Blood, Fecal Matter and Sweat’ to Play Stinky Henry VIII in ‘Firebrand’

Jude Law wore a horrifying concoction of scents, a pungent blend of “blood, fecal matter and sweat,” to play Henry VIII in “Firebrand,” a historical thriller about the final days of the king and his sixth and last wife Katherine Parr.

“I read several interesting accounts that you could smell Henry three rooms away. His leg was rotting so badly. He hid it with rose oil,” Law said at Monday’s Cannes Film Festival press conference for “Firebrand,” which debuted at the Palais a day prior. “I thought it would have a great impact if I smelt awful.”

Cases soared in New York, but constitutionality questioned

ALBANY, NY — The use of the red flag law in New York has surged over the past year to allow judges to confiscate weapons from people they deem dangerous.

The rise in cases, according to prosecutors and elected officials, has helped quell gun violence in New York after an alarming spike during the Covid-19 pandemic.

With an expanded law and more attention to it, the growth in cases has been extraordinary after it was barely used when it was first passed in 2019. In 2021, there were 538 extreme risk protection orders issued. A year later, the number soared

Indianapolis Indians honor Terry Badger III this week with anti-bullying homestand

INDIANAPOLIS – Terry Badger III would’ve loved the Indianapolis Indians’ next homestand, six games against the Triple-A Iowa Cubs, because he loved the Indians, he loved the Cubs, he loved baseball. Playing it, watching it, talking about it, you name it. He was 13. It’s baseball. You get it.

Terry had been to Victory Field before, you know. His Pee Wee league in Covington – a few miles on this side of the Illinois border – named its teams after the Triple-A International League. Terry played on the Mud Hens when he was 4, so when the Mud Hens traveled
