‘I heard about this new site, which I falsely assumed was, like, a super search engine’

The two lawyers who submitted fake legal research generated by AI chatbot ChatGPT just got hit with a $5,000 fine and a scolding by a federal judge. The lawyers submitted a legal brief on an airline injury case in May that turned out to be riddled with citations from nonexistent cases. The attorneys, Steven A. Schwartz and Peter LoDuca of Levidow, Levidow & Oberman, initially defended their research even after opposing counsel pointed out that it was fake, but eventually apologized to the court.

Schwartz, who created the ChatGPT-generated brief, already had a court hearing on June 8 in which

Donald Trump’s Ex-Lawyer On Documents Case Has Pithy Advice For Trump

Tim Parlatore, who was a lawyer for Donald Trump in the classified documents case before he quit for personal reasons, offered some advice Tuesday to his old client: Shut up. (Watch the video below.)

OK, Parlatore said it in more polite words during his appearance on CNN but his free counsel came in loud and clear.

“You have the right to remain silent. Use it,” Parlatore said.

Parlatore was shown video of Trump’s interview with Fox News’ Bret Baier in which the ex-president seemed, to many, to admit to willfully keeping sensitive files at Mar-a-Lago after receiving a subpoena to

June 19 (UPI) —

For decades, public libraries across the country — and their staff — have operated under a modern understanding of court rulings that say books and other materials cannot be removed simply because government officials do not like the ideas they contain.

But as the 5th US Circuit Court of Appeals considers a case of over library books in Llano County, Texas, allegedly plucked from shelves

Citing ‘Irreconcilable Differences,’ Trump Lawyer Quits Another Case

Former President Donald Trump’s legal woes go beyond the dozens of states and federal charges against him — he’s having trouble finding qualified lawyers willing to help him wage his various courtroom battles.

With his history of ignoring legal advice and bills, it’s not hard to see why.

On Friday, attorney Jim Trusty submitted a request to withdraw from Trump’s defamation suit against CNN, citing “irreconcilable differences” with his client.

The move came just one week after Trusty and another lawyer, John Rowley, decided to resign from Trump’s legal team in the matter of classified documents he is accused of

Unlike former President Donald Trump, the former National Security Agency contractor didn’t contest the allegations, ultimately pleading guilty in 2019 and admitting his actions were “wrong, illegal and highly questionable.” But his expressions of contrition and guilty plea to a single count of willful retention of national defense information didn’t spare him the harsh punishment of nine years in prison.
